Los Alpes (Francia) y Salt Lake City (Utah, Estados Unidos) fueron elegidas como las próximas sedes invernales, tras la votación llevada a cabo en la 142 sesión del Comité Olímpico Internacional, celebrada en París.

El Comité Olímpico Internacional (COI) confirmó este miércoles que los Juegos Olímpicos y Paralímpicos de Invierno 2030 se celebrarán en Los Alpes franceses y la edición de 2034 la albergará Salt Lake City, Utah, Estados Unidos, según la votación de la 142ª sesión del COI, celebrada en París.

En la primera votación, en la que el territorio francés era la única opción, la candidatura de Los Alpes obtuvo 84 votos positivos de los 88 totales. Mientras que Salt Lake City, también única propuesta para 2034, se confirmó como sede con 86/89 votos favorables.

La Junta Ejecutiva (CE) del COI reafirmó así la elección de Los Alpes franceses como sede de los Juegos Olímpicos y Paralímpicos de 2030, concretamente en las regiones de Auvernia-Ródano-Alpes y Provenza-Alpes-Costa Azul, ante la presencia en París de Emmanuel Macron, presidente de Francia.
